Adaptive personalised knowledge transfer in microscopic anatomy

MyMi.Mobile is an e-learning application for histology and microscopic anatomy at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Anatomy at Ulm University. Using a smartphone or tablet, the application allows for web-based learning of microscopic and anatomical content in human, dental and molecular medicine, using high-resolution, virtually microscopeable and fully annotated histological specimens. This development is being completed in conjunction with the Baden-Württemberg centre of excellence for e-learning in medicine.

With the support of the Educational Technology Lab, the MyMi.Mobile project is now expanding the application into an intelligent tutoring system. The EdTec Lab’s role is to design, implement and optimise the ITS using artificial intelligence methods. Working together with the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Anatomy (Prof. Dr. Stefan Britsch), learning content from histology and microscopic anatomy is being digitised, prepared in media pedagogy form, and evaluated during medical studies.
