Privacy policy

You have a fundamental right to protection of your personal data. DFKI GmbH and its employees handle your personal data in good faith for specified purposes only. This privacy policy offers information on how we handle your personal data when you visit and use our website. It is fundamentally possible to visit and use our website without any personal data being collected. Personal data will only be collected by our website to the extent technically required. The data collected will not be passed on the third parties unless we are obliged to do so by specific legal provisions.

Access Data

Usage, traffic and connection data will be collected and temporarily stored in a log file every time our website is accessed. The following data will be stored with every access of or connection to the website:

  • IP address
  • User agent information transmitted (in particular web browser type/version, operating system etc.)
  • Referrer information transmitted (URL of source page)
  • Data and time of access
  • Access method/function transmitted
  • Input data transmitted (search terms etc.)
  • Pages and/or data accessed
  • Data quantities transmitted
  • Status of access processing

The data sets stored can be statistically analysed to enable us to tailor our website to our users’ needs and optimise it. Technologies enabling reproduction of users’ access behaviour will not be used. The creation of user profiles (tracking) is precluded. The data sets stored cannot be traced to a specific person. There will be absolutely no conflation with other data sources. However, we reserve the right to subsequently review stored data if we have reason to believe that there are specific indications of illegal use.


Our website uses what are known as ‘cookies’. Cookies are small files which are stored on your web browser. The cookies used on our website will not do any damage to your computer and do not contain any malware. They enable user-friendly and effective use of our website. We transmit ‘session cookies’ to your web browser. These are only valid for the duration of your visit to your website and are meaningless outside of our website. Session cookies are required to identify your session with a unique number during your visit, and to provide our content in your preferred language. Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of the visit when you close your web browser. We also transmit permanent cookies with a maximum validity period of 365 days to your web browser. However, all of the information on offer will always be fully available.

Social Media

We do not have any social media plugins embedded in our website. This means that if you visit our website, no data will be transmitted to any social media services. Profile development by third parties is therefore impossible. However, you do have the option to switch directly to our information services on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. We refer to the relevant service providers’ privacy policies for use of these services.


You can contact us by email. Your email address and other personal contact details will be used for the purposes of correspondence with you only. Due to statutory obligations, all email correspondence is archived. Where required to safeguard our legitimate interests, your email address and other personal details from correspondence may be stored in our contact database.
